RADIOGRAPHY TESTING

Radiography testing, also known as X-ray inspection or RT, is a non-destructive testing (NDT) method used in metallurgical services to examine the internal structure of materials and components, primarily for flaw detection. It uses penetrating radiation, like X-rays or gamma rays, to create an image that reveals variations in density, thickness, or the presence of internal defects such as cracks, voids, or inclusions.

Radiation Source: Either X-ray tubes or radioactive isotopes (like gamma ray sources) are used to emit radiation. Penetration: The radiation passes through the material being inspected. Absorption and Scattering: The radiation is absorbed and scattered differently by materials of varying densities and thicknesses. Image Creation: The transmitted radiation is recorded on a film or detected by electronic sensors, creating an image (radiograph) that shows the internal structure. Interpretation: The radiograph is then interpreted to identify any flaws or anomalies.
