Ultrasonic Thickness Gauging (UTG) is a non-destructive testing (NDT) technique used to measure the remaining wall thickness of metallic and non-metallic components. It is particularly effective for detecting material loss due to corrosion, erosion, or wear in service-exposed equipment, without requiring cutting or damaging the part.
How It Works:
An ultrasonic transducer emits high-frequency sound waves into the material.
The sound waves travel through the thickness and reflect back from the opposite
surface. By measuring the time of flight and knowing the velocity of sound in
the material, the exact thickness is calculated and displayed digitally.
Applications of UTG:
Standards Followed: ASTM E797, ASME Section V, ISO 16809
Make/Model we are equipped with: GE, Olympus, Modsonic, EECI
We deliver precise Ultrasonic Thickness Gauging services with certified reports, helping industries such as Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Marine, Manufacturing, and Fabrication to monitor asset health, ensure compliance, and prevent costly failures.
